Matt Thames

I've never lost the magical feeling since first learning to kite. What amazes me the most is how many different types of people can get together at the beach and instantly become friends. It's as if the feeling we share is a common ground to base an entire sport upon. As the kite boarding family grows strong, I feel honored to do my part to keep the magic alive.

Jah Bless,

Matt Thames (Sol-Flyer)

Why do you like this sport?

Kiteboarding is the perfect cross-over between almost all board sports, buggy, anything with wheels...to be honest the full potential of kiting has not been reached.
What inspires you to compete?

I love the extra boost of energy when I know someone's watching, Even if its one person walking there dog down the beach!

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I kiteboard almost a complete year. Snowkite in the winter and Kitesurf in the summer. The only time I take a break is about mid fall. The water's too cold and the snow has'nt fallen. That's usually the time i try to get any last of the year things done, and further develop the Southern Oregon Kite Addicts
Describe your style...

I come from 10 years snowboarding experience. I love the fluid style that comes from the snow. Aggressive, yet Graceful.
Music?

Kiteboarding came to me at a transitional period in my life. A band that I had been a part of broke up,and left me at a terrible loss because I had done most of the management. Kiteboarding became my focus in life from that moment on. Music is still a big part of my life, just not as a profession.
