Gabe Brown joins Eclipse for the second season. Having spent a season in the waves on the 2008 Nano 6m, was there ever any doubt? Gabe lives for wave riding whether it be under the kite or on top of his board so a stellar wave kite was key to getting his support. Gabe lives and tests the gear in the challenging and cold conditions of Northern California. Gabe comes to Eclipse with an impressive resume for the Kiteboarding industry. Gabe was the Editor of Kiteboarding magazine for two years, traveling the world and getting to know all of the riders and their styles. He was an important part of the growth of kiteboarding during the years in which the hybrid/SLE kites were born. Gabe is also a photographer and videographer who brought you one of the most classic Kiteboarding films, WindReels colume 1, starring one of our favorite riders, Dimitri Maramenides. Gabe's in depth knowledge of the industry, it's players and it's best riding spots is a key factor in growing the Eclipse brand on the west coast. Gabe has been kiteboarding since the year 2000 and has spent the last 3 seasons in Northern California riding almost exclusively in the surf. "I have a blast riding flat water, doing powered tricks and hanging out with my buddies at the Delta but it's not as dynamic as riding the waves and I just don't get the same thrill. I seem to get hurt a lot riding flat water as well and as I get older, I evaluate the risk vs. reward quite a bit more." Gabe attributes his passion for riding waves to the gear finally getting to a point where it feels almost like surfing. "Sometimes after a killer wave, I find myself looking up at my Kima and thinking, wow! you're still there! It's that lack of thought during the wave that allows me to have so much fun and I believe that the kites are finally there. I also surf and kite on the same 6'3" surf board. Having one board and one kite that pretty much have me covered has opened up the door to new riding spots for sure. It's so nice to be able to pack a small kite and one surf board on a hike and not get skunked. If it's not windy enough for my 6m Kima, I can surf." | My Contact Info: |
