Dave’s kiteboarding career was to have begun in 1998 however due to a tragic work accident that career was put on hold indefinitely. Dave fell 30 feet while on a job site and suffered extensive damage to his right knee. He was informed by specialists that water sports i.e. kiteboarding was most likely not an option. Well in the early months of 2001 Dave picked up his first kite, an Airush Lift 15. He picked a secluded stretch of beach and began the first of many brutal self educating sessions. (Dave does NOT encourage learning to fly without lessons from authorized instructors and proper safety precautions.) Within a couple of months Dave was on the water and eventually evolved into an impressive rider with the ability to catch some “big air”.

As a loyal Airush rider, Dave soon befriended professional kiter Dimitri Maramenides. Then things got interesting! With the inception of Eclipse Kites in early 2007, Dave became a team rider. Not only did his skills improve further, he also found himself rewarded with a great number of new and lasting friendships. By early 2008 Dave was named the Southeast Sales Representative for Eclipse Kites. Dave’s favorite aspect of his involvement with Eclipse was his active participation in putting together the Full Throttle team sponsored by Coke. Seeing the excitement on the faces of younger, up and coming riders he was able to sponsor was well worth all of the time and effort invested. Dave is very proud of the CKA riders that are now a part of Full Throttle.

Dave resides in Jupiter, FL with his wife and two very spoiled rottweilers. His favorite kite is his Eclipse 12 Thruster for catching that “big air” and he also loves the  Kima for wave riding. He spends a great deal of time traveling his territory promoting Eclipse but when he has no events or schedule to be kept, you can most certainly find him on Kite Beach in Jupiter. Dave encourages anyone to follow their dreams no matter what the odds are and especially when someone tells you, “you can’t.”
